While some children learn to read, write, and spell with minimal supports within a typical classroom environment, many children need information presented to them in a variety of ways in order to learn to the best of their abilities.
SOUNDS APART was created to do just this; to teach children how to read and write in the way that works best for them.
2025-2026 Academic School Year
One-to-One Literacy or Numeracy Intervention
Reasons you might be looking for LITERACY and NUMERACY INTERVENTION for your unique learner:
Your child is experiencing significant and persistent challenges with reading, writing, and language development, and/or with math fluency and word-based problem solving.
You and your child’s teacher/s are beginning to see gaps appear between them and their peers.
Your child’s self-confidence and self-esteem are suffering because they believe they aren’t ‘good at reading’ and they ‘cannot write’.
A variety of recommended reading and writing, and math strategies have been tried at school and at home but little progress has been made.
Your child is capable of great things but they are not reaching their potential.
Why Choose Sounds Apart for Your Learner?
INDIVIDUALIZED INSTRUCTION: Using the most current researched-based instructional practices (structured literacy/OG, EBLI, SRSD), all programmes and instruction are designed with a scope and sequence that ensures tangible and demonstrative progress for each unique learner.
Every student receives INSTRUCTION THAT IS PERSONALIZED to their learning style and needs. Targeted areas are addressed using the most effective research-based strategies available, ensuring the acquisition of language is consolidated for deeper understanding.
Lessons are delivered using a multimodal approach that bridges the visual, auditory, kinesthetic/tactile systems, allowing for students to reach mastery faster, AND transfer their learning beyond their remediation lessons.
Progress is regularly COMMUNICATED to families, ensuring transparency of instruction and facilitating conversations that enable strategies used and skills acquired are easily transferred to work done at home and at school.
At the centre of SOUNDS APART are the RELATIONSHIPS cultivated with students and their families. It is crucial that the children we work with feel we are fully engaged and here to make a difference in their lives. The authentic and deeply rooted relationships we develop with our students are what sustain us through the challenging work we tackle.
Learning is FUN! Nothing we teach is done in isolation. For children to progress, they MUST connect with and fully digest the material we work on. For this reason, all of our lessons are part skill-full delivery and skill-full play. This enables us to appeal to all learners.
